Fenway part of Boston-area collaborative funded by DOJ to address African-American, Latino/a LGBT domestic violence
The Violence Recovery Program at Fenway Health is part of an organizational collaborative that has been awarded a 2-year, $300,000 grant by the U.S. Department of Justice: Office of Violence Against Women to address LGBT domestic violence in Boston-area African-American and Latino/a communities. The anti-violence collaborative has dubbed itself Transforming Ourselves through Dialogue, Organizing and Services/TODOS in Action. Other partner organizations include the Hispanic Black Gay Coalition, The Network/La Red, and Renewal House.
“The expectation that LGBT people of color receive care in white-dominated environments where services are created without community input can contribute to a feeling of alienation when seeking support,” said Kelcie Cooke, Coordinator of Fenway Health’s Violence Recovery Program. “This grant gives us the opportunity to work as a community to create services that can better serve African-American and Latino/a LGBT people who are impacted by domestic violence.” Read more.

Thank you for making Harbor to the Bay such a success!
The 2011 Harbor to the Bay Ride was a huge success and we want to thank every single person who rode or crewed or worked on this year’s volunteer committee. The Ride is an important source of support for HIV/AIDS programs and services at Fenway and all of the beneficiary organizations and Ride day itself is a huge inspiration for everyone involved. We especially want to thank the 54 riders and 40 crew members who volunteered their time on behalf of Fenway Health and Team Fenway!

There is still time to make a gift if you want to support Team Fenway or any other team, rider or crew member – just visit Harbor to the Bay online.
