For those who want to break the cycle of drug or alcohol abuse, Fenway Health offers acupuncture substance abuse support services on a daily walk-in basis during treatment center hours. An intake appointment is required prior to attending the walk-in clinic. These appointments are available Monday through Friday and can be made by calling the Behavioral Health Department at 617.927.6202.
Once considered an off-beat alternative, acupuncture is now viewed as an effective method for stopping the use of a wide range of addictive substances. These include alcohol, tobacco, heroin, cocaine, crack, methadone, stimulants, depressants, marijuana, and many other drugs.
Outpatient treatment for substance abuse typically lasts several weeks and involves daily acupuncture treatments at our walk-in clinic, substance abuse counseling and education, referrals to self-help programs, and individual and group therapy. We offer support services for significant others involved in your recovery. HIV risk reduction counseling is also a component of this program.
